Bill Frost on TV for December 9th, 2019

Michelle Wolf: Joke Show (Standup Special, Tuesday Dec 10, Netflix)
The streamer canceled her talk show, but Netflix is still in business with comic Michelle Wolf. Filmed live in New York City, the former Daily Show correspondents’ Joke Show special tackles outrage culture, feminism, childbirth, massages, and otters(?). Big hair, bigger laughs.

Martha & Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party (Holiday Special, Wednesday Dec 11, VH1)
Martha Stewart and Snoop Dogg’s series of Potluck Dinner Party specials continues with a Christmas showdown of chronic proportions. “Holiday Frost Fight” pits Martha, Snoop, and guests Paris Hilton, Tank, and Haha Davis against each other in a kitchen cook-off from 12/25 to 4:20.

A Legendary Christmas with John & Chrissy (Holiday Special, Thursday Dec 12, NBC)
Award-laden singer John Legend and Twitter terror Chrissy Tegan celebrate the holidays with guests Awkwafina, Zach Galifianakis, Meghan Trainor, Kim Kardashian, Queer Eye’s Fab Five and more. Coincidentally, John’s still selling his Legendary Christmas album from last year.

The Expanse (Season 4, Friday Dec 13, Prime Video)
Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck’s novel-based series was apparently too thinky for Syfy, which canceled The Expanse (aka Game of Thrones in Space) after three seasons last year. Fortunately, Amazon Prime Video picked it up for a fourth; prepare for a looong “previously on …’ segment.

Marvel’s Runaways (Season 3, Friday Dec 13, Hulu)
Hulu’s teen X-Men series Runaways never quite received the same acclaim as Netflix’s Umbrella Academy or DC Universe’s Titans, but it (was) a cool, young ‘n’ angsty superhero series. In Runaways’ third and final season, they take on villainess Morgan le Fay (Elizabeth Hurley).

Watchmen (Season 1 Finale, Sunday Dec 15, HBO)
Speaking of angsty superheroes, will HBO’s most buzzed-about new series since Westworld return for a second season? Who knows? In tonight’s ninth and final Season 1 episode of Watchmen, expect at least some closure from producer/writer Damon Lindelof (no, really).

Rick & Morty (Season 4 Fall Finale, Sunday Dec 15, Adult Swim)
Reddit’s gonna be on fire tonight: Rick & Morty is over (for now). We all knew that “Rattlestar Ricklactica” would be the last of a five-episode 2019 run, but when Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland will deliver the 65 other promised installments remains a mystery. Oh, geez …
