BONERS ROUND ONE

Boner Candidate #1: ANNIE LENNOX EXPRESSED SHOCK AT MADGE’S CRAZY THEORIES

Madonna on Tuesday posted a video with misinformation about COVID-19 and hydroxychloroquine, writing on Instagram that a vaccine for the virus had been developed but was being withheld to “let the rich get richer.” “The truth will set us all Free! But some people don’t want to hear the truth,” the pop star wrote, per the BBC.  Instagram flagged her post for false information and noted there is no known cure for the coronavirus, Vulture reported. The post was later removed. The viral video, also retweeted by President Donald Trump before its deletion by Twitter, featured controversial Houston physician Dr. Stella Immanuel claiming she had treated hundreds of patients with hydroxychloroquine and prevented death. Boner Candidate #2: YOU NEED TO HELP ME WITH MY DAD’S EMAIL

Gifted one-on-one time with four of the most powerful tech executives in the world, Republican Congressman Greg Steube of Florida decided to grill Google CEO Sundar Pichai about Gmail’s spam folders. We’ve all had issues with spam folders, but Steube suggested to Pichai that his campaign emails getting sent to spam was part of a nefarious anti-conservative plot. Pichai and three other major tech CEOs —Amazon’s Jeff Bezos, Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg, and Apple’s Tim Cook — testified before the House Judiciary subcommittee on antitrust, commercial, and administrative law on Wednesday. After first complaining about not being able to Google the far-right website Gateway Pundit, Steube spent much of his allotted five minutes on Gmail’s spam folder.  Steube claimed that when he transitioned from state politics to Congress, suddenly people couldn’t get his campaign emails. “My parents, who have a Gmail account, aren’t getting my campaign emails,” he told Pichai. “My supporters, just last week, one of my supporters called me and said, ‘Hey, I just want you to know this, that my Gmail account suddenly is taking your campaign emails that I’ve received for almost 10 years and suddenly they’re going to spam and junk folders.” Not taking a moment to actually ask a question, Steube quickly pivoted from troubleshooting his parents’ email to alleging a plot against conservatives.

Boner Candidate #3: DON’T BOTHER CALLING THE SHERIFF FOR HELP

RENO, Nev. – Douglas County, Nevada Sheriff Dan Coverley has a message for his county’s library: Don’t bother calling 911 for help anymore and good luck dealing with lewd visitors and disturbances on your own. His outburst, which he posted in an open letter on the sheriff’s office website, follows an aborted plan by the Board of Library Trustees to consider a statement of diversity and inclusion at a public meeting that was canceled today. The draft statement denounces “all acts of violence, racism and disregard for human rights.” It reads in part: “We support #BlackLivesMatter. We resolutely assert and believe that all forms of racism, hatred, inequality and injustice don’t belong in our society.” That line prompted Coverley to write a statement of his own.

BONERS ROUND TWO

Boner Candidate #1: IS THERE REALLY ANYTHING SO WRONG WITH THAT?

There are a lot of ways to pass the time when going on an adventurous road trip. That’s the whole reason car games were invented! And when it’s a grown-up only trip, one of the best parts of a road trip is being able to talk to your heart’s desire and to sing at the top of your lungs while munching on snacks. This is exactly what one woman had planned to do on a road trip with her boyfriend, but it didn’t quite go quite as she expected. The woman posted in Reddit’s Relationship Advice channel looking for some input on a situation she found herself in. The purpose of this Reddit thread is to get advice, and the 26-year-old woman (OP) needed some. She started her thread by writing that she recently discovered her boyfriend had drugged her with Benadryl while on a road trip. “Monday we decided to make the 8ish hour drive back to our home state and quarantine there instead for a few months,” OP wrote.

Boner Candidate #2: I BET I GOT THE RHONA FROM MY MASK

The Texas congressman, who frequently refused to wear a mask, said he had probably contracted the coronavirus because he did so. His diagnosis raised questions about the spread of the virus on Capitol Hill. Representative Louie Gohmert, Representative of Texas, on Tuesday during a House Judiciary Committee hearing in the Capitol.Pool photo by Matt McClain. Representative Louie Gohmert, a Texas Republican who has frequently refused to don a face covering in the Capitol, confirmed on Wednesday that he had tested positive for the coronavirus before a planned trip with President Trump on Air Force One, and he blamed his diagnosis on wearing a mask. The results immediately sent a shudder through the Capitol, where this week Mr. Gohmert has been voting and actively participating in congressional hearings, including a Judiciary Committee session on Tuesday with Attorney General William P. Barr and another held by the Natural Resources Committee.

Boner Candidate #3: AN ACT OF COWARDICE, SAYS MANNY CAULK

Fayette Superintendent Manny Caulk denounced as a “cowardice act” the discovery Wednesday that someone had raised a Confederate flag with extremist symbols on the flagpole at Bryan Station Middle School. District spokeswoman Lisa Deffendall said after a report was received about 8 a.m Wednesday morning, “school staff checked immediately, and removed the flag from the pole.” “The flag had been written on and contained symbols associated with far-right anti-government extremist movements as well as slogans disparaging police officers,” she said. Deffendall said Fayette County Public Schools Police Department is investigating and she encouraged anyone with information that could help identify those responsible to call the district police department at (859) 381-4200. “We will pursue this matter to the furthest possible extent,” she said. “This is a cowardice act and we denounce this abhorrent behavior in the strongest of terms,” Caulk said. “Hate has no home here in the Fayette County Public Schools and we will take swift action to address this despicable act. “
