Boner of the Day for October 26th, 2020

ROUND ONE

Boner Candidate #1: I’M NOT TELLING YOU HOW TO VOTE, I’M TELLING YOU HOW TO KEEP YOU RENT LOW

FORT MORGAN, Colo. — The landlord of a trailer park in Fort Morgan allegedly sent a note to residents warning rent would most likely double in price if Joe Biden becomes president. 9NEWS received several emails from Fort Morgan residents concerned about the legality of the letter, calling it a form of voter suppression. The Colorado Secretary of State’s office confirmed they have received a complaint, and told 9NEWS they passed it along to the Attorney General. According to several pictures of the letter sent to 9NEWS, it reads:

“TO ALL TENANTS:
Please understand IF Joe Biden is elected as our next President, everything you do and have to pay for will change completely. Everything will be increased. Like paying ALOT (sic) more in taxes, utilities, gasoline, groceries, new permits, fees and regulations…everything! This also means YOUR RENT will be increased to cover these expenses. Most likely, rent would DOUBLE in price!

Boner Candidate #2: NOT APPROPRIATE FOR ON THE JOB BEHAVIOR

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) — An NYPD officer is suspended and under investigation after video surfaced of him saying “Trump 2020” over a bullhorn while in a patrol car. Videos, allegedly taken in Flatbush, Brooklyn, were posted on Twitter on Saturday night. Eric Jenkins-Sahlin captured a 30-second video from his apartment. He told CBS2’s Cory James he hit record when he heard police and someone near the crosswalk at Crooke Avenue and St. Paul Place get into a confrontation around 10 p.m. “I heard somebody say ‘Trump 2020,’ and there was kind of some maybe low-key shouting back and forth,” Jenkins-Sahlin said.

Boner Candidate #3: HOW DO YOU SPELL DEMENTIA?

A billboard in Fayette County, Pennsylvania claims Joe Biden has dementia but spelled it incorrectly. @evan_ludy. A billboard in Pennsylvania accuses Joe Biden of having “dementia” — but butchers the spelling of the cognitive disorder. “Biden’s dimensia is worsening. He is not fit,” the message declares, while mistakenly adding an extra “i” and “s” to the word. The unsubstantiated political attack ad, which sits next to Route 21 in Fayette County, also features an image of the former vice president next to the phrase “Sleepy Joe,” according to an image posted on Twitter. But observers noted that whoever is behind the message isn’t exactly sharp either. “The irony is just hilarious,” Evan Ludy, 22, who lives in nearby Uniontown, told Newsweek.

ROUND TWO

Boner Candidate #1: A DISGRACE TO DEMOCRACY

A fire was set Sunday in a Boston ballot drop box holding more than 120 ballots in what appears to have been a “deliberate attack,” Massachusetts election officials said. The state has asked the FBI to investigate the fire that was set around 4 a.m. in a ballot drop box outside the Boston Public Library downtown, Massachusetts Secretary of the Commonwealth William Galvin’s office said. In a joint statement, Galvin and Boston Mayor Marty Walsh called it a “disgrace to democracy, a disrespect to the voters fulfilling their civic duty, and a crime.” “Our first and foremost priority is maintaining the integrity of our elections process and ensuring transparency and trust with our voters, and any effort to undermine or tamper with that process must be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” they said in the emailed statement. “We ask voters not to be intimidated by this bad act, and remain committed to making their voices heard in this and every election.”

Boner Candidate #2: THIS AIN’T HOW WE DO THINGS IN LEHI

Even with Utah’s coronavirus infections spiking to alarming levels, masks continue to be a contentious matter as evidenced Saturday at a Utah County farmers market, where a vendor says he was thrown out for wearing a mask and encouraging others to do so. Like most of Utah, people in Utah County are under a mandate to wear masks in public, which public health experts say reduces the chances of disease transmission. So RJ Walker didn’t think handing out masks would be controversial while working a table Saturday at the Lehi Farmers Market. He’s been doing that all summer and fall at Utah farmers markets, where he staffs tables as a brand ambassador, inviting passersby to play games and win prizes. But the proprietors of the Lehi market took exception to him handing out masks Saturday, according to a 21-part thread Walker posted on Twitter, describing the confrontation that ended with his ejection from the market.

Boner Candidate #3: WE SHOULDN’T HAVE TO LIVE THAT WAY

LAYTON – People in a Layton neighborhood said an Amazon driver took issue with the flags outside one home, throwing them into the street and running over one of them. Neighbors told the homeowner what had happened on Wednesday, who said he was disappointed to see his “Trump” and “Thin Blue Line” flags damaged on surveillance video. You may not agree with his political choices, but hopefully, everyone agrees that this is not the way to express that difference. “We should be able to just have a conversation and have differences of opinion,” the homeowner said. “It doesn’t look like that’s what we’re being taught anymore.” The homeowner chose not to be on camera Friday, saying he doesn’t want to attract too much attention for expressing his opinion. Neighbor Matt Papaj said he noticed something unusual when the delivery van passed by Wednesday.
