Trapt Drummer Michael Smith Quits Band

Trapt drummer Michael Smith is leaving the band for issues he says are “primarily political.”

Smith called his decision “bittersweet”.

In the past year, Trapt lead singer Chris Taylor Brown was booted from Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter for his use of hate speech on issues ranging from the Black Lives Matter movement to the coronavirus pandemic.

Smith said he respects everyone’s right to have an opinion of politics, “but at the end of the day, I am a musician and my job is to play and create music. So that is what I plan on doing.”
