Amazon Van Thief Escapes Police Custody

A Fresno man who was taken into custody after stealing an Amazon delivery van at gunpoint has escaped.

Jesse Tapia, 29, was arrested Monday after he reportedly carjacked an Amazon van and crashed it, according to the Fresno P.D. After an attempt to carjack another vehicle failed, Tapia was arrested and taken to a hospital to be treated for injuries he received in the crash, police say. At some point, he ended up slipping out of his restraints and leaving the hospital, police say.

As of Wednesday afternoon, Tapia remained at large, police say.

Out of all the vehicles on the road, which would be the worst to steal?
