Cops: Chicago Woman Lied about Kidnapping so Police Would Find her SUV

A Chicago woman is behind bars after she reportedly lied to police about her baby being in a car that was stolen.

Police say while 30-year-old Sade Owens’ SUV was actually stolen, she only told them her baby had been kidnapped in an effort to speed up the search for her vehicle. The search for the child involved a police helicopter, numerous K-9 units, and dozens of police officers, according to Owens’ arrest report.

Police realized they’d been deceived after they found Owens’ three children — including her “missing” daughter — at a babysitter’s house, according to the Chicago P.D. Owens has been charged with making a false report, which is a felony.
