•30th Annual The Great Salt Lake Chili Affair at Salt Palace Convention Center

It’s Crock Pot season, bitches. I’m not talking about those knock-offs from All-Clad or Hamilton Beach, either. The real deal. You need to get your bean game on fleek, so get your tickets now. Besides, proceeds go to one of our favorite charities: The Road Home. “The Road Home is proud to present the 30th Annual Great Salt Lake Chili Affair, “Where We’ve Bean!” This family-friendly chili cookoff is definitely one not to miss! With great chili from local chefs, delicious salads, bread and desserts along with great live entertainment, a silent auction, and supervised children’s area. There’s something for everyone in the family to enjoy! The funds raised from this event to directly to help the individuals and families we serve move out of shelter and back into housing!”

•Buckcherry at The Royal

They had a song about cocaine and one about a crazy bitch, so you know what you’re getting into. They will rock their way into you hearts at The Royal. On and mind the balls. there’s pool on the second floor.

•16th Annual Darks Arts Festival at Area 51

What are the dark arts? I’m guessing it has to do with blindfolds, nipple clamps and a round of Smell My Finger. I am wrong. According to organizers, “The annual Dark Arts Festival of Utah. Now in it’s 16th year! 2016’s event will feature headlining acts: David J, PIG, En Esch, Peter Turns Pirate, Angelspit, Die Sektor, The Dead Room, DJ Amanda Jones, Radio Scarlet, Voicecoil, Carphax Files as well as local Goth/Industrial artists (TBA), DJs, dance performances, fashion show, visual and performance artists and vendors Performances and vendor areas are 18+. Ticket info to be announced!” If I am not at this, you can find me at home with a plastic back over my head listening to Die Antwoord.

Next time we tell you not to touch anything, you’d better listen.

•Bees of Red Butte Garden Lecture

The bees are dying and you keep eating honey. Well eat away, because soon enough no one will remember what it tastes like, but at least you won’t have to worry about being stung or eating anything they polinate. Bad human! Bad! I guess it’s not all glass-half-enpty though: “How many bee species are there in North America? 100? 200? How about 4000! Learn about the huge variety of native bees with Dr. Joseph Wilson, assistant professor at Utah State University Tooele, and author of The Bees In Your Backyard: A Guide to North American Bees. (Princeton University Press) This lecture will be at held in the Red Butte Garden Classroom. Space is limited to 60 people.”

•RX Bandits at In the Venue

Somewhere between ska and prog rock, the RX Bandits have been kicking around from Warped Tour stops and beyond since 1995.

•2016 Utah Paranormal Festival

The season right before top 10 lists is all about Halloween lists and spooky lists, so put this one on your e-cal. “Purchase your tickets to Utah’s largest paranormal festival. Meet local paranormal experts, browse the vendor booths, attend the panels conducted by our special panelist. Come down and meet our special guest in person and get to know them. If you order your ticket online prior to the event the price is just $10 plus small ticket fee. TICKETS PURCHASED AT THE EVENT DOOR WILL BE $15 SO ORDER ONLINE TODAY!!!” Three exclamation points, so you know it’s spooky.

•Basin Beer Fest at Snowbasin

Yet another reason to eat a bratwurst and have a beer in the Utah highlands. “Sample and taste all of the best local Utah Craft Beers while tasting Bavarian Inspired Foods and treats… (and) beers from Bohemian Brewery, Uinta Brewing, Squatters Beers, Wasatch Beers, Red Rock Brewery, Roosters Brewery, 10 Barrel Brewing Company, Payette Brewing Company and more!” You want this. You need this. Get a DD. #highaltitudedrinking. The Basin Beer Fest goes through Sunday.

•Japanese Food Bazaar at the Salt Lake Buddist Temple

“Come to the Annual Salt Lake Buddhist Temple Food Bazaar! We’ll have Japanese food and gifts for sale, as well as Chapel Tours, Raffle and Silent Auction.” You had me at food.

•Magic Mike Live at The Complex

My pony, jump on it. I guess. Are you? Now go full Channing and flip that cap sideways and hit play on that Ginuwine! SOLD OUT!

•L.A. Witch at Urban Lounge

Three mystical ladies from Los Angeles that remind me slightly of Mazzy Star. Seems like a solid choice for a Sunday evening. They are joined by The Hound Mystic, Super 78, Season of the Witch and it’s FREE! 21+

•Dinosaur Jr. at The Depot

Don’t miss another staple of 90’s running through SLC when Dinosaur Jr. brings their tour in support of their new album, Give a Glimpse of What Yer Not, to The Depot. Steve Gunn and Residual Kid will also perform.

•Pennywise at The Depot

Society. We know that something’s wrong and we’ve known it all along, but did you know that Pennywise will be joined by Unwritten Law, Runaway Kids and Strung Out. Pennywise will be playing “About Time” entirely.

That’s it for this week. I am all out of Ghost Rider White IPA, so I’m off to play Overwatch while you all plan your week. I hope this helped.
