Research suggests that the new coronavirus could be airborne. The University of Nebraska Medical Center – home to the nation’s only biocontainment unit – and the National Strategic Research Institute at the University of Nebraska partnered with others in the joint study. They collected air and surface samples from the rooms of positively infected people in quarantine and found transmission possible through a droplet and direct human contact as well as though contact with contaminated surfaces and air. Though, researchers stress that the findings are based on limited data and not conclusive.
