Mother and Daughter Accused of Accessing Student Accounts to Rig Homecoming Vote

A mother and daughter have been accused of rigging a homecoming election in Pensacola, Florida.

Laura Rose Carrol was arrested for accessing student records without authorization to rig the outcome of homecoming votes. Her daughter was sent to a juvenile detention center.

Carrol has been an employee of her county’s school district. Her daughter has been cited to have said that she used this access to cast votes.

Investigators say that Carrol used unauthorized access to cast homecoming votes for her daughter’s school. Both were charged
with third-degree felonies.

Carrol was accused of accessing 372 high school records beginning in 2019.
