Two New Zealand men are behind bars after police caught them trying to sneak into the locked-down city of Auckland with a trunk-load of food from KFC.
The unidentified chicken lovers had violated Auckland’s lockdown order by traveling to a KFC in Hamilton, which is about 75 miles away from their home, police say. Police stopped the men’s vehicle after they saw the driver make a U-turn in an apparent attempt to avoid a confrontation.

That’s when officers, who conducted a search of the vehicle, found the Kentucky fried contraband in the trunk, according to a police report. It consisted of at least three buckets of chicken, 10 cups of coleslaw, a few bags of fries, and four bags of other KFC food items, the report indicates. Each man is now facing a $2,798 fine and up to six months in jail.
