Round One

Boner Candidate #1: WE COULDN’T TOTALLY KILL OBAMA CARE, SO SIGN UP FOR IT.

The Texas Republican’s comments came are voting over a dozen times to repeal the ACA. As Majority Whip, Cornyn lead efforts in 2017 to eliminate the safety net he now calls salvation for Texans. In the Monday interview, Cornyn stated: “The good news is that if you lose your employer-provided coverage, which covers about a 180 million Americans, that is a significant life event, which makes you then eligible to sign up for the Affordable Care Act.” “As you know, it has a sliding scale of subsidies up to 400% of poverty. So that’s an option for people.” Cornyn is up for reelection in November. He faces a number of challengers, with combat veteran MJ Hegar as the Democratic frontrunner. Texas Democratic Party spokesman Abhi Rahman commented on Cornyn’s about face: “Cornyn can’t have it both ways. The question now becomes, where does Cornyn stand on the Paxton lawsuit to repeal Affordable Care for Texans who have recently lost their job?”

Boner Candidate #3: YOU SIR, ARE SLIME

WASHINGTON — President Trump’s eldest son on Saturday posted a social media message suggesting Joseph R. Biden Jr. was a pedophile, an incendiary and baseless charge that illustrates the tactics the president is turning to as he attempts to erase Mr. Biden’s early advantage in key state polls. Donald Trump Jr., who is one of his father’s most prominent campaign surrogates, put on Instagram a picture of Mr. Biden saying: “See you later, alligator” alongside an image of an alligator saying: “In a while, pedophile.” When a reporter shared the Instagram post online, the younger Mr. Trump, echoing one of his father’s tactics, wrote on Twitter that he was only “joking around” and noted that he had included emojis of a laughing face. Yet in the same Twitter post, he also reprised his original insinuation. He accused the former vice president of “unwanted touching” alongside a collage of photographs of Mr. Biden showing affection for children. The misleading images were mostly taken from public swearing-in ceremonies at the Capitol, where the former vice president warmly greeted lawmakers and their families.

Round Two

Boner Candidate #1: ZOOM DISRUPTERS

OGDEN, Utah – Ogden Police are investigating the disruption of a Zoom meeting held by the city’s Diversity Commission Wednesday afternoon. Ogden Police are investigating the disruption of a Zoom meeting held by the city’s Diversity Commission Wednesday afternoon. According to a news release from Ogden PD, several dozen people entered the meeting and directed racial epithets and hate speech at the Commissioners. “They tried to be bullies and thugs and pick people out and said a lot of things that we’re trying the be highly highly offensive,” Mayor Mike Caldwell told FOX13. “It’s sad… I don’t like being here today and I don’t like what happened to the people that were on that call.” The disruptors also displayed pornographic images, the news release said. A screen capture from the Zoom meeting shows one of the suspects doing a Nazi “Sieg Heil” salute. That image has been shared all over the state of Utah but Police say they have not been able to identify the juvenile. “That leads me to believe in that case that it’s probably not a local” Police Chief Watt told us. Police said the meeting was quickly terminated after the disruptive activity began, and they have made the investigation a high priority.

Boner Candidate #2: MORE ARTIFACT VANDALS

Jen Beard said she’d been to that beach countless times, often to fish, but that Thursday she was there to collect driftwood and to show off some of the area’s 200-year-old Native American rock art to her friend’s young daughter. This particular petroglyph depicts a person riding a horse(or mule or donkey)and is etched on the tip of a small boulder on the shore of Gunlock State Park’s namesake reservoir. It’s well-known to park regulars, probably because it’s near the entrance, although technically not on park land, said state parks spokesperson Eugene Swalberg. Beard said when she got to that particular spot, she was shocked by what she saw. Where the boulder once sat, there was just freshly disturbed sand. And the boulder itself was in the water, upside down, the petroglyph submerged. “It was devastating,” she said. “I wanted to cry.“The State Historic Preservation Office is now asking anyone with information about what happened to contact the office, said Elizabeth Hora, a preservation office public archaeologist. This type of vandalism has been increasing recently, she said, as more people visit Utah to explore its public lands. So much so, Hora said the office’s Public Archaeology Network is working on a campaign to educate visitors about the importance of rock art and how to respectfully observe it.

Boner Candidate #3: IT WOULD HAVE GONE DIFFERENTLY IF I WAS WHITE

Travis Miller Sr., an appliance and furniture deliveryman, had just completed his eighth and last delivery of the day last Monday and was attempting to leave a gated community with a co-worker when a white car blocked his path to the neighborhood’s only exit. “I think things would have gone differently if I was white,” Mr. Miller, 43, who is black, said in an interview. “His issue was with the people inside the truck.” After the driver of the white vehicle, a white man, refused to move, Mr. Miller took out his phone and started recording, using Facebook Live to make sure he had evidence of his innocence for his employer. The 37-minute video has been viewed more than half a million times since he first shared it in real time during the confrontation on the afternoon of May 11. “I’m trying to leave, and I got Super Neighbor over here blocking me in, so I’m going live,” Mr. Miller said at the beginning of the video. “This is what I’m dealing with right now.”
