While the world’s collective attention has been focused on the coronavirus pandemic, something’s been going on unnoticed in Africa: Adolf Hitler has been elected to office.
Adolf Hitler Uunona, a member of the South-West Africa People’s Organization party, on Wednesday was sworn in as Namibia’s new councilor of the Ompundia constituency.

The 54-year-old politician says his father was unaware of World War II’s Adolf Hitler when he selected a name for his son. “As a child I saw it as a totally normal name,” Uunona says. “It wasn’t until I was growing up that I realized this man wanted to subjugate the whole world. I have nothing to do with any of these things.”
