At 12:28 a.m. on July 31, Vero Beach police were walking in a parking lot in the area of the 700 block of 21st Street when they heard someone say, “I am so messed up right now,” and another voice laughing. An officer looked around and spied a couple of dudes on the roof of Maryland Fried Chicken. The men “panicked” after seeing the officer and tried to get down from the roof to a nearby shed. One scrambled down and ran, and the other stayed on the shed. Police caught the men, identified as Andy Maza, 21, and 19-year-old Tyler Scott, both of Port St. Lucie. At one point, Scott “spontaneously stated that they were just messing around and thought it would be funny to take a ‘selfie’ from on top (of) the building.”
