Radio From Hell interviews Oscar Nunez (known for his role on The Office) and talks about his new show Benched.
Oscar Nunez stars as Carlos, Nina’s (Eliza Coupe, “Happy Endings”) idealistic co-worker at the public defender’s office, in USA’s new comedy “Benched.”
“Benched” is a single-camera comedy about a high-powered corporate lawyer’s fall from grace into the rough-and-tumble world of the public defenders. Now that Nina is shunned from the corporate world, the only place she can get a job is at the Public Defender’s Office: home to the underfunded, understaffed, overworked, “if you can’t afford a lawyer, one will be provided…” lawyers.
Bill: What’s your character on Benched?
Oscar: “I think you are going to like it. We are defense attorneys, we are overworked, we are underpaid, downtown LA, fighting the good fight. You know, defending people that can’t defend themselves and a lot of them are cool and need help and a lot of them are crazy and that’s the way it is. Eliza Coupe, she was a corporate lawyer, she had a bad day, and lost her job; and now, she is with us in the public defendant’s office. She’s like a fish out of water.”
