Sundance Film Festival 2015: Way To Go, Russian Woodpecker, Western

“Way To Go”: Way To Go is a magical walk through the woods, made up of handmade animation and 360-degree live-action video, that brings us to question: If we move faster, do we miss out on certain things? How do we feel when we are lost? What do we gain from looking at our world from a macro to a micro perspective? Is it the destination that matters?

“Russian Woodpecker”: Young, eccentric Ukrainian artist Fedor Alexandrovich was just four years old when the Chernobyl disaster struck, but the event had a profound effect on him. In seeking to learn more about what happened at the nuclear plant, Fedor becomes fascinated with the Duga—a massive, Soviet-constructed radio antenna near the Chernobyl site that remains shrouded in mystery.

“Western”: In his classic novel A Tale of Two Cities, Charles Dickens famously wrote “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.” That line sums up the story of Western, the latest film from Bill and Turner Ross, a documentary destined to become a classic itself. Eagle Pass, Texas, and Piedras Negras, Mexico, two towns on opposite sides of the border have shared a harmonious history until the specter of cartel violence threatens to divide them.
