I’ll be the first to agree with most people that air travel sucks ass, but taking it out on the flight attendant is low, even for a rock star. That’s exactly what happened with Dolores O’ Riordan of the Cranberries couldn’t let it Linger (boo!) when she took down a stewardess on a flight from New York to Ireland. I mean, the WHY would a rock star take it out on someone doing a job that clearly sucks the life out of you.
No really, I’m actually dead inside.
I’m praising myself right now for NOT making a Zombie joke there. Good news though, O’Riordan is out of police custody following her arrest yesterday over her alleged air rage incident. BBC News says O’Riordan was thrown in the pokey after a stewardess was attacked on an Aer Lingus flight from New York City to Shannon, Ireland. The singer was questioned by Irish police, and then taken to a nearby hospital after she complained about being ill. O’Riordan has since been discharged from the hospital and released without charge by police. A spokesman for Aer Lingus says police are still investigating what he called a “security matter.”
Phew. Ok, it’s out of my system now. The injured stewardess was taken to the hospital and treated for a suspected fracture in one of her feet. So She’ll live. A policeman was also injured during the arrest, but didn’t require any medical attention. The Cranberries are still kind of big in Ireland I guess, but have not had a hit in the US since the late 90’s. So rock star status MIGHT not have anything to do with the charges being dropped. Which leads us to the conclusion that the Irish can kick your ass and get away with it.
