Well, there he is; famous wrestler Jake “The Snake” Roberts being interviewed by me there on the right during our coverage of the Sundance and Slamdance film festivals. I don’t remember the names of the other guys in the picture except the director of “The Resurrection of Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts;” he’s Steve Yu, there on the left. Jake was a real nice fellow and we had a fairly personal chat before the microphones went on and he became Jake the Showman. I told him about the time Kerry Jackson and I took my mother, Nola, the Lady with a Snake Tattooed on her face, to see him and Hulk Hogan and a bunch of others rassle at the Salt Palace years ago. “No, my Mom really didn’t have a snake tattooed on her face,” I assured him. “But we really did take her to the rassles.” He was thrilled to hear about it and asked me all about my mother. Then, Jake showed me this:
“That’s a fresh tattoo. I just had it done this morning.” He claimed it didn’t hurt and that it would heal just fine. Then we started the interview. He became the star of the show. It was all about him.
Thanks for listening.
