There are five things in the world that make me smile: a burrito with fresh ingredients and sour cream, going to a great movie at the theater, traveling with friends, music and stand-up comedy. The last one is important. It’s philosophy. It’s distracting. It makes you think. It’s bold. It’s really just some person talking (as discussed in this clip from Louis CK). That is pretty impressive.
Anyway, between Louis CK and Jim Jefferies (whom I’ve just recently discovered – why did that take me so long?), that could almost be enough. I like challenging comedians. Vulgar. I can’t do Jim Gaffigan comedy. It’s a slow boat for me. It’s the same reason I can’t watch sitcoms like “King of Queens” or “The Big Bang Theory” or “Two And a Half Men.” I know a lot of people like these shows and Mr. Gaffigan. I don’t fault them for it. I just don’t get it. see it as passing time. I see it as thinking – looking at the world in a different way. It’s almost stressful for me and challenges me to be more clever.
The point is, Louis CK dropped a new special online today and you can buy it for $5. Seems like a steal. Speaking of which, don’t steal it. It’s five bucks for one of the best, if not the best, stand-up alive. Splurge and pay the man $5. It isn’t like the new Marilyn Manson album where you want to test the waters before deciding if you want to keep his boat afloat.
