Look at this. In 1977 this was the best they could do? I mean..look at his head! They didn’t even TRY to make it look like Artoo’s face! And the body? Yeah, that’s a sticker. A STICKER for Crom’s sake! How ‘well, that’s good enough’ of a job can you do Kenner?! Now, the R2-D2 action figures are SO realistic. They make sounds and even obey commands. But, THIS was what we had to put up with if we wanted an R2-D2 action figure. Here’s the thing, today..I absolutely love how awful it is. I have two I saved from childhood in near perfect condition. I love how bad this figure is so much, that I bought a 10 inch tall recreation of this classic, sticker and all, for like 75 bucks. Oh, I HATED this figure as a little kid. And now, you’ll have to pry it from my cold dead hand.
